Canada opens consultations on future trade negotiations with Turkiye
On July 7, 2026, Prime Minister Mark Carney and Türkiye's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan formally announced the launch of negotiations toward a comprehensive, modern, and mutually beneficial free trade agreement (FTA).
In anticipation of commencing FTA negotiations, Global Affairs Canada is inviting Canadians to submit their views, reflections, and priorities with respect to enhanced trade and investment with the Türkiye, and the potential impacts and opportunities of a bilateral FTA.
The input gathered through this process will be used to inform Canada's FTA negotiations with Türkiye.
