U.S. extends border restrictions with Canada and Mexico to August 21

The United States announced that, to decrease the spread of COVID-19, including the Delta variant, it is extending restrictions on non-essential travel at the land and ferry crossings with Canada and Mexico through August 21, while ensuring the continued flow of essential trade and travel.

Given the outbreak and continued transmission and spread of COVID-19 within the United States and globally, the Homeland Security Secretary has determined that the risk of continued transmission and spread of the virus associated with COVID-19 between the United States and Canada poses an ongoing "specific threat to human life or national interests."
