Tribunal finds dumping/subsidizing of plywood from China causes no injury to Canadian industry

The Canadian International Trade Tribunal determined that the dumping and subsidizing of certain decorative and other non-structural plywood originating in or exported from China, have not caused injury and are not threatening to cause injury to the domestic industry.

As the Tribunal found no domestic injury, anti-dumping and countervailing duties will not be collected by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).

On January 21 the CBSA had made final determinations of dumping and subsidizing of the plywood from certain exporters from China

However, two conditions need to exist in order for anti-dumping and/or countervailing duty to be applied to imported goods. The first is the confirmation that the goods are being sold under a fair price (dumped) and/or subsidized, and the second that the dumping and/or subsidies cause harm to the Canadian industry.
